I'm using a Samsung Galaxy III mini that I purchased from Fido.
Woke up to a message on my phone that I must update the software, and I should be using "Samsung Kies". No choice not to update. I watched as my phone rebooted. Baseband version and Build Number increased by 1, Kernel version is the same but the build date changed to 2015-Sept-01, Android version is still 4.4.2.
I'm pretty sure this update didn't come from Fido -- a Fido rep told me you guys will never update Android for this phone, not even for security patches and I must wait for the manufacturer. This update claims to come from the manufacturer, but a Samsung rep said they don't distribute patches and only the Canadian service provider (Fido) can issue them. I'm getting conflicting stories from Samsung and Fido.
Where can I find out more about this manditory update to the phone I bought from Fido?
